hi. i've got a runny nose, but i'm too lazy to get some toilet paper, so i'm using my hand. is that gross? figures. first post in nearly a month and it's gross.
hey well, with that said, i'm either rebounding from a weird bout of pleurisy coupled with a sore throat/cold/flu, or i'm on a gradual decline that will surely end with me in the hospital. i'm thinking i'm getting better, but you never know. it's all rather confusing.
aside from that, things are good.
heather had spring break going on last week and her sister nikki came out to visit for a few days. good times. when i wasn't working, i hung out with them. we went to the clap your hands say yeah show at the bluebird last tuesday. that was a fun show. also caught the damien jurado show last friday. again, a good time. i had a brief, somewhat drunk conversation with damien after the show and took a photo with him. sure i felt silly interupting him mid conversation at the bar, but sometimes you've just gotta do that kind of stuff. plus, he was very cool about it. a very nice guy.
anyway, i took last wednesday off and man is that a good call...taking days off. who even cares about work? exactly. having a whole day to do whatever, we went up to boulder, toured a mead factory, had lunch at chautauqua park, hit up installation (nice little shoe shop), and then came home and grilled up some turkey burgers. later that night we went to the bodyworlds exhibit at the denver science museum. man was that crazy. if you don't know what i'm talking about, google it. it's pretty interesting.
so that pretty much wraps up last week. that's all i really remember anyway...3-5 days. anything more than that is a wash.
sleep.

09:50 p.m.
another historic event goes down in the books.
poder reunion 2006.
seriously...you all missed out on some gooooood smartin up at the poder reunion. thoughts were thunk, themes discussed, particulars laid out, chaos tidied up, problems solved, hunger fed, thirst quenched, gravity tested, beards shaved, and a bunch of stuff that i just can't tell you about.
one particularly noteworthy outcome, as a direct result of poder #2's genius, was the addition of a new color of orange into the world. we named it "ohmygodi'mfuckingblind orange." look for it on runways near you soon!
and while the press conference did have to be abandoned at the last moment, it wasn't because poder #1 had checked himself into rehab as the tabloids have noted, but actually because northwest made 2/3rds of the poder reunion nearly 2 hours late. the press was pissed, but more importantly i was (at northwest mind you). fortunately i had just loaded some simpsons episodes on the ipod, so the wait in the limo at the airport was doable...but we wasted hundreds if not thousands on catering for the event.
anyway, that's why the event wasn't streamed here on gs. it simply didn't happen. we had it all worked out from a technical point of view, but it was simply out of our hands. damn those pilots and whatnot.
but as previously noted, the rest of the reunion was all bells and whistles and things of that nature. i'd elaborate, but that'd just ruin what we have in store for the future.
and yes, we did change the world. just saying. stay tuned.
don't sleep!

fridays are best.
know what else is best? having your birthday fall on a friday. that's great. you can go out. run around. jump. all kinds of stuff. and you can do it worry free because you probably don't work the next day. now, true, some kids work on saturdays...but they don't count.
speaking of birthdays, it's bart's bday today! well, it's his birthday today here in the states. it's probably almost already tomorrow over in japan. so that means he is probably celebrating (or has celebrated too much) by 8:49am states time. how great is that?
wow...two birthdays in two days. this is crazy.
best (day ever).

07:21 a.m.
yo. early morning post. haven't even had coffee yet. i know...crazy.
anyhow...
point your guns to the sky and fire off a round for texas chad - it's his birthday today.
note: i'm pretty sure that you shoot guns in the sky on birthdays in texas. i don't own a gun, so i'm just gonna grab a handfull of rocks and toss 'em as high as i can. feel free to do the same. making gun noises with your mouth is optional.
end.

it seems that fate has brought us together again. i post. you read. it's beautiful. all ying and yang and stuff.
if only you could send me gifts...that would enhance the beauty of this thing we've got goin.
with gifts, it would become "wonderful beauty" or possibly "joyously beautiful." i won't get ahead and call the possibility "incredibly joyous beauty," but the other ones...those are good.
beauty.
the poder reunion is making big news on the big news circuits. people are talking. rumors are spreading. but no one is really sure what will come of it all. a novel? new astonishing mathematical equations? world peace? all are doubtful, but none have been ruled out.
aside from the schedule press conference friday evening, the rest of the reunion events remain unknown.
update: the press passes have been distributed. if you didn't receive one, do not show up for the press conference friday evening. for those with passes, the location and time of the event will be posted here friday. the event will most likely be streamed live on grindstyle.com.
that's it for now.
dance sucka!

hi. it's me. sup?
let's start with a quick lesson:
when you let someone "guest post" on your site, make sure you proof what they write BEFORE you let them post.
case in point, chad talkin shit.
second lesson:
when you update your site as infrequently as i do, it's hard to justify bitching. i realize this. i also choose to ignore it.
that wasn't really a lesson, but this is my show.
back to the vail/breck weekend...
the trip was great. great to have chad back out. working on a trip recap with some video (with the new camcorder) and photos, but it's slow goin. no promises, but maybe.
since i already gave you a lesson today, let's add a tip. a potentially valuable tip:
i work for a pretty large company. they block lots of sites, including innocent ones such as itunes.if you're in the same boat, try this for a quick fix.
use the url below - change the "www.forbiddensite.com" to whatever site you want to view. should do the trick.
http://www.google.com/translate?langpair=en|en&u=www.forbiddensite.com
it worked for me, but can't guarantee it'll work for you.
what else...new apple products today. *yawn* i'm not really impressed.
that's about all i've got today. poder reunion up at copper sat-tues. select media passes available for qualifying applicants.
don't sleep.

Hey y'all. This is a mini-guest writing appearance by Chad. Came out to see D for quick weekend snowboarding trip (thanks Erin). Since D is SOL with his computer lately and never updates Grindstyle (or makes t-shirts, or stickers for snowboard helmets.....sorry personal gripes)he told me to crunch out an update on the drive up.
So far the trip has been crazy. Flew in, went to Sam's club for dig vid and camera accessories, had a great burger at Handle Bar, watched snowboard cross (not snowcross Damon) and way too much men's figure skating (Heather made us since it's her favorite).
It's now 6 am and we're off to Vail with Bagels and Coffee and Damon isn't happy about the rocks on the highway. That's all i've got folks, looking forward to a weekend of snow, beers, and there will probably be a handful of Damon complaining mixed in, but that's nothing new.
Enjoy

05:43 p.m.
hi. are you GOooood? hope so. i'm goods too, but i'm pretty sure i'm loosing...as in, not winning. as in wtf is up with my luck?!
seems my hard drive is failing on the imac. so stoked. had some major problems last night that resulted in 5 reboots. the first few gave i/o errors. the 5th actually got me back in, but it's not looking good. in panic mode, i started a backup of important files. man was it sad...estimated 22 hours to transfer 60 gig to an external drive. but it gets worse - 11 hours later, only 20 gig had transferred. i'm hoping for some good news when i get home from work, but that might be asking a bit much.
and fedex delivery is a crock of shit. just saying.
note: i use the term "delivery" lightly as i think that implies effort to get you your package. some how i think "not showing up" fails to fall into that category. especially when it's already taken 8 days for me to "NOT" get my package.
fedex customer support is of no help either. after a good 15 minutes on the phone (14 of which i was on hold between the two 30 second discussions i had with crabby fedex lady), they told me that the delivery person already
returned to the wharehouse, but they were able to find my package and would be happy to delivery it the next morning - first thing!
um, no shit? shouldn't that have happened during the day? wasn't that the plan from day one? and what did she mean by "find" my package?
and p.s. fedex delivery person - if you come to my house and i'm not home, leave a tag so i can sign for the thing. bush league.
aside from those things, and the fact that i can't get my passenger-side headrest down, life is incredibly fine.
oh, and traffic and bad drivers...those suck too!!
huggers.

no gang!
i'm gonna hug him.

12:29 p.m.
6 things to note on january 23rd 2006:
i'm liking tofu these days.
the new flaming lips song is good.
the artic monkies are overrated.
blogs are way overrated.
facial hair is underrated (despite 2004/2005's hipster craze).
work, as it has always been, is for suckers.
Thursday, January 19, 2006 based on my luck with this jetta over the last two years, i’m fairly
certain that the thing is cursed. or i am. note: if you’ve cursed me, kindly remove said curse so i can get on with
the “normal” part of my life. thanks. anyway, here are some items to file in the “good news” category:
- heather and i went to copper monday and i “attempted” to teach
her how to ride. given my teaching skills, she did outstanding for her first
time (also her first time out since the acl surgery two years ago.) don't sleep.
04:44 p.m.
what’s new with you? oh. really? you don’t say? me? um, well...my
car is totally fucking crazy. crazy probably isn’t the right word, but the
other day while driving home from work, my seat heater burned a hole through my
seat and left a burn mark on my pants. mind you this happened while on the highway,
at 45 mph (yes that's relatively slow, but it was "rush-hour" busy).
somehow, in a matter of like 10 seconds i was able to pull to the median, realize
my car wouldn’t fit there, check the smoke coming from my ass, turn the
seat heater off, open my backpack, find my backpack, check the seat, determine
that my coffee cup was empty and didn’t contain any liquid to douse my seat
with, avoid several cars, and pull to the shoulder of the road - all with my butt
up in the air avoiding the smoking, glowing ember on my seat.
- joe left the dark side and bought an ibook. smart. real smart.
- day 25 of birthday beard.
- komp is also rockin a beard. we're really doin it harry. (no pun).
- our governor and mayor declared jan 20th as “orange” day. wtf!?
i’m pretty sure this is lame, and i’m not really into sports all
that much, but i think it’s fun that the broncos are in the playoffs.
sit around, drink beers, eat food? sign me up.
- tomorrow is friday.
Monday, January 9, 2006 ah 2006…time to wax philosophical about 2005 or the new year to come?
no. hell no. i don't have time for that shit. seriously. who does? don't you feel overwhelmed with stimuli these days? man, i do. i've got far
too many web sites to check out, too much music to listen to, overdue items
to return to the library, a stack of movies to watch, books to read, bills to
sort/pay, emails to write, phone calls to make, projects to finish, magazines
to read, piles of shit to organize, etc. ad nauseam. bleh. so what do i do? or, should you be feeling much the same, what do WE do? shit if i know. seriously, didn't you read all the bitching back there? i'm
overwhelmed myself. i guess there's always the clichéd new year's resolutions - aka - "...make
amends for all the ways you suck." * personally i've never been into new year's resolutions. not by choice really,
but by nature. i just don't seem to be able to see ideas through before i get
sidetracked with some other brilliant idea (often later referred to as "crap")
that, while at the moment of conception is the best idea ever, sets me off in
a new direction leaving all ideas prior in a eternal holding pattern. note: i am REALLY good at this. but this year i'm really considering working on making improvements in this
arena. i'm not necessarily going to make any specific resolutions per se, but
i am going to "work on shit." that's what i'm saying. it's general
enough to cover anything that comes up, and specific enough (for me) to know
what i've gotta do. i've already started off on the right foot by getting my free
credit report and adding my cell to the no
call list and permanently opting
out on prescreened mail offers. i highly suggest you do the same. next on
my list: attempting to lower credit card rates, increase monthly payments on
student loans/credit, up the direct depost amount to savings, and actually taking
a stab at making a budget. simplification is also part of the plan, but more
about that some other time. looking for some tips on where to start? check out this
post on lifehacker.com. note: yes, i realize that i just gave you another url to check out and yet
another site to visit. i do see how this contradicts what we’re aiming
for, but you know… baby steps. regardless of what steps you take or what steps you don't take - good luck
with 2006 and have fun and stuff. * - i liked the way this was stated in the 43 folders podcast, "fresh
starts and modest changes," so i bit it. check
it out to hear the rest. you might find it interesting. (direct link - .mp3)
05:10 p.m.
so i know i've been sleeping on this site, but happy 2006. (what? i'm only like
eight days late).

02:37 p.m.
so you should probably go to this
site and download the 9.15.05 rotterdam jose gonzalez show right about now.
very nice quality.

04:42 p.m.
surprise! it’s super special post day! no, not really, but it’s friday and i’m sure this is
a surprise as i haven’t posted anything since...november? is that right? damn gina! long
time.
here's a brief recap of the last 40 days or whatever:
eat, work, sleep, car accident, pissed, get over it, work, eat, watch some movies, beer,
eat, christmas shopping for gift cards, take two weeks of vacation, fly to wisco, eat,
drink, komp n' katie time (she rocks. just saying), hug mom, drive to mn, xmas, begin
birthday beard, family, eat, drink, drive to wisco, xmas part two, drive to madison, sell
ticket to badger game, dinner and drinks with heather and nikki, beers with bart! (no shit.
best!), eat maccaroni pizza, sleep, drive back to the sauce, eat, drink, fly to colorado, no
new years plans, out for dinner, feel like crap, couch drinks with the love, ball drops,
kiss, and then it's 2006!
so yeah, that's basically it i think.
oh yeah - i'm thinking about moving to toronto.
15 glasses of wine per day? free?! sign me up.
cheers to beards!
Saturday, November 26, 2005 i guess this explains the unseasonably warm weather we're having this year. (duh.) with that said, yesterday was beautiful out. we went to the park and walked four miles. then we came home and sat on the couch for nearly 6 hours and watched tv, movies, played cards, and ate pumpkin pie and grilled cheese and tomato soup (in that order). i'd like to feel good about the walk, but somehow i think the couch time to miles walked ratio equals "lazy" no matter how you do the math. today i'm supposed to work on some work. that's not too cool, and i have absolutely zero motivation to do so (for the 3rd day in a row). you should do something too. it'll be fun. late.
10:19 a.m.
it's also the "last nice day" before a string of cold days hit. 30's and snow? wha? that probably means i should get outside and do something.
Thursday, November 24, 2005 sup? we're just chilling here, cooking for ourselves. got invited to several events/dinners, but we passed on everything to be lazy. good stuff. i got up at 9, watched some of that shitty parade (it's not even a parade for the first 45 minutes...just stupid musical performances) and then we cracked the mimosas. i moved on to coffee slightly before noon, and it was then that i realized that i picked up kahlua, not baileys. bummer. why'd they put that shit right next to the irish crèmes? bad call on the liquor store's part. heather busted out the xmas stuff early this afternoon and got busy putting items around the house. we're not doing a tree this year as neither of us will be around - both wisco bound. but moms sent me a tiny tree last year and heather got that up and running. that's what we do. it's nearly 6 and we haven't eaten yet. guess that happens when you don't put the turkey in until 3...actually i don't even remember exactly when we put it in. i could do the math, but i'm far too lazy for that. i'd rather spend that energy getting another glass of wine. despite our initial plan to cook a small meal or get some takeout, we decided to do some full-on cooking again this year. baked up a pumpkin pie, cranberry sauce from scratch, green been thing, potatoes, acorn squash, stuffing, and the turkey thing. so yeah, late turkey meal and then probably some movies or something. happy turkeys.
05:49 p.m.

03:41 p.m.
november 23rd, 3:37pm, 67 degrees. damn gina! this weather is outstanding! well, not if you're into snow, but whatever. i'm kinda stoked on the warm. it's probably linked to global warming, which, you know, is bad, but you'll have that...the bad that is. you'll also have some good. in this case the good is me not working for four days. no, wait....the good is the warm weather. shit, no, that's bad...global warming.
regardless, i'm pretty sure i'm glad that it's nice out and i'm also fairly certain that i'm stoked about not working for 4 days...even though i'm taking work home with me.
anyone get anything out of this post? me either.
don't sleep.
Sunday, November 13, 2005 sundays are so depressing. i get lazy. i drink a few beers. i get bored watching football. i fall asleep. then it's dinner time. not a good day to cook...not usually anyway. tonight is chicken tenders and fries. based on my math, easy is good. (speaking of easy meals, anyone had this?) then it's typically movie/tv time. tonight is shaun of the dead. i've owned it since it came out, but haven't watched it yet. i don't even know if it's "shaun" or "sean." probably the former. i don't think it matters that much though. honest, i do want to be productive on sundays, but i think it's knowing that i have to go to work again the next day that kills me. shit...forgot to put the fries in the oven. the end.
07:04 p.m.
Thursday, November 3, 2005
08:10 p.m.
damn right baseball is over. thank god.
but seriously what's up? seth all of the sudden has a G5 imac instead of the G4 imac? shouldn't that have been somewhere in the plot? i mean, it was obviously product placement (twice as the dean also had one). and marisa is such a fucking drama queen. all the fuss and then we get insight that the slut is "connecting" with the little surfer boy from the public school? isn't that the "wrong side of the tracks?" isn't that ryan's territory? wtf?! and summer, the one who essentially single handedly gets ryan back into school goes unthanked. bullshit.
so yeah, what else is going on? um...red hook changed their bottles. is that new? new to me anyway.
i ate a pizza. i'm converting wave twisters for the ipod. despite what i said before, video was a great add to those things.
that's all i got tonight.
don't sleep.
Tuesday, November 1, 2005 well halloween's done and done. hope you had some. the last few years i've kind of rejected the idea of dressing up and going
out, but this year i caved. we hit up monsters of mock at the ogden saturday.
monsters of mock is a little 80's rock homage put together by the kids over
at surburban home
records. it was my first year and it was a good time. they had a metal karioki,
a poison cover band and a guns and roses cover band. we went with lots of people
and everyone dressed up...well, almost everyone. I've got quite a few photos
that i really do intend on getting up here...honest. on a random note...jose gonzalez...remember the post about that guy? yeah,
he's gettin there. his version of "heartbeats" is used in that awesome
sony bravia ad. if you haven't seen it, check it out here.
i love it...makes me happy. check out the behind
the scenes stuff too. very cool. 4:54...almost time for beers. don't sleep.
05:02 p.m.
